The Killian Lab had a record attendance at this year's Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) Annual meeting. Highlights include:
- Three undergraduate and three graduate students presented their orthopaedic research!
- On Sunday, Jaclyn Soulas (senior undergraduate in Pre-Clinical Animal Biosciences and UD Honor's student) presented a podium talk in the Skeletal Muscle- Injury and Repair session on her research (The Role of Muscle-specific Fibroblast Growth Factor 9 (fgf9) in Innervation and Bone Shape).
- PhD student, Ryan Locke, presented a late-breaking poster on mitochondrial gene expression in growing and injured tendon.
- On Monday, Connor Leek (PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at UD) presented a moderated poster on his project titled: Global Knockout Of Fgf9 Results In Enlarged Bone Ridges And Differential Gene Expression In Muscle But Not Bone.
- Anna Lia Sullivan (undergraduate in Pre-Clinical Animal Biosciences and UD Honor's student) presented a poster on her independent project: Differential Healing Of Small And Large Partial-width Defects In The Tendon Attachment Of The Rat Rotator Cuff.
- Rachel Klink (undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering at Taylor University and 2019 REU student) presented a poster on her project: Differential Healing Of Small And Large Partial-width Defects In The Tendon Attachment Of The Rat Rotator Cuff.
- On Tuesday, Elahe Ganji (PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at UD) presented a moderated poster on her PhD work titled: Use Of Optogenetics For Light-mediated Muscle Contraction And Tendon Loading.
- Dr. Killian helped to organize a new Research Interest Group on Hip Dysplasia and Other Structural Hip Disorders.
- Lots of great science was shared, and we learned a lot. We love #orthoresearch!
The ORS Annual Meeting was held this year in Phoenix, Arizona, from Feb 8-11.
